How the Berlin WelcomeCard works

The Berlin WelcomeCard is a tourist card (digital or printed) that gives you unlimited use of public transport in Berlin and up to 50% off admission to over 170 attractions. Depending on the version (48h to 6 days), the pass also includes free admission, e.g. to the five museums on Museum Island or over 30 top sights (all-inclusive), and is valid from the first use for the selected duration.

  • 1

    Choose the right pass

Decide which version of the Berlin WelcomeCard (required fare zone AB or ABC and validity period) best suits your trip. The classic WelcomeCard offers unlimited public transport and up to 50% discount at over 170 attractions; the 72-hour Museum Island edition also includes free admission to the five museums on Museum Island; the all-inclusive pass (72h, 4, 5 or 6 days) grants free admission to over 30 top attractions.

  • 2

    Buy pass

You can buy the Berlin WelcomeCard online (e.g. on the official website) or on site in Berlin (at the airport, tourist information offices, train stations and in many hotels), whereby buying in advance saves time. If you order online, you will receive a voucher as a PDF - be sure to print this out, as mobile tickets are usually not accepted.

  • 3

    Activate pass

Validate the WelcomeCard ticket once before the first journey on local public transport - from this point on, the validity runs for the booked duration (e.g. 72 hours until the same time three days later). Online tickets with a fixed start date are automatically valid from the specified time and do not need to be validated; 4-, 5- and 6-day passes end at midnight on the last day of validity.

  • 4

    Use the pass

Always carry the WelcomeCard with you and show it on public transport and at attractions to get discounts or free entry. For some attractions (e.g. the TV Tower), a reservation is required in advance despite the pass; each benefit can only be used once per attraction; as a WelcomeCard holder, you can also take up to 3 children (6-14 years) on public transport free of charge.
