The Berlin WelcomeCard is a tourist card (digital or printed) that gives you unlimited use of public transport in Berlin and lets you save up to 50% at over 170 attractions. Depending on the variant (48h to 6 days), the pass also includes free entries, e.g. to the five museums of Museum Island or over 30 top sights (All Inclusive), and is valid from first use for the selected duration.
Consider which version of the Berlin WelcomeCard best suits your trip – from the classic card with public transport and discounts to the Museum Island edition to the All-Inclusive pass with free entry to over 30 top attractions.
Buy the WelcomeCard online or on-site (airport, tourist information centers, train stations, hotels). When ordering online, you'll receive a voucher as PDF – print this out, as mobile tickets are usually not accepted.
Validate the ticket once before your first journey – from then on, it's valid for the booked duration. Online tickets with fixed start dates are automatically valid; 4- to 6-day passes expire at midnight on the last day of validity.
Show the WelcomeCard on public transport and at attractions to receive discounts or free entry. Some sights require advance reservation, and as a cardholder you can take up to 3 children (ages 6–14) free of charge on public transport.
The Berlin WelcomeCard (standard pass) includes unlimited travel on public transport in Berlin (depending on the variant for zones AB or ABC) during the selected validity period as well as up to 50% discount at over 170 sights, museums, tours and other attractions.
Depending on the pass variant, additional services are included: The Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island (72 hours) includes, for example, free admission to the five museums on Museum Island. The Berlin WelcomeCard All Inclusive allows free entry to over 30 top attractions (including Museum Island and a hop-on hop-off bus tour), but does not include a public transport ticket. All variants offer the mentioned discounts at many other partners.
After purchase, you will receive the pass as a digital ticket via email. Print this voucher (ticket) in DIN A4 format and carry it with you. Activation occurs with first use or from the start date and time indicated on the ticket.
The validity period depends on the selected variant: 48- and 72-hour passes are valid for exactly 48 or 72 hours from activation. Multi-day passes (e.g. 4, 5 or 6 days) are valid until midnight on the last day of validity. Example: A 4-day pass activated on Wednesday expires on Saturday at 11:59 PM.
With the pass, you can generally visit each included attraction only once or redeem the respective discount once. Multiple visits to the same sight with the same Berlin WelcomeCard are not provided for during the validity period.
The Berlin WelcomeCard (standard and Museum Island variant) includes a ticket for all public transport in Berlin local transport. You can use the subway, S-Bahn, buses, trams as well as regional trains within the coverage area (zone AB or ABC, depending on the pass) unlimited.
Yes. The Berlin WelcomeCard functions – provided you have chosen a variant with public transport – as a full-fledged ticket for public transport. You do not need additional tickets for bus and train in Berlin within the covered fare zone. (Please note: The All-Inclusive variant of the WelcomeCard does not include a local transport ticket.)
Transfer to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is covered if you have the Berlin WelcomeCard for zones ABC, as the airport is located in fare zone C. With a pass only for zone AB, the journey to/from the airport is not included. Note that a Berlin WelcomeCard AB cannot be subsequently extended to include zone C – for airport transfers, the ABC variant should be selected directly.
The Berlin WelcomeCard does not offer general fast-track access at attractions. You can often skip the queue at ticket offices since you already have a pass, but there is usually no special priority for WelcomeCard holders at entrance controls or security checks.
Children up to 5 years generally travel free on public transport in Berlin. Additionally, up to three children aged 6 to 14 years may travel free per adult WelcomeCard holder (with variants that include public transport). For youth from 15 years and adults, there is no discounted WelcomeCard – they each need their own pass at regular price.
When purchasing online, you receive the Berlin WelcomeCard as a digital voucher via email. You bring this printout (DIN A4) with you to Berlin and use it directly as your city pass. You do not need to collect the pass on site – the printed online ticket serves as both transport ticket and discount card. Remember to carry ID, as proof of identity may be required during inspections.
No. Cancellation or refund is normally not possible after purchasing the Berlin WelcomeCard. The tickets are date-specific and excluded from exchange.
A lost pass generally cannot be replaced. Therefore, keep your Berlin WelcomeCard safe. With a digital ticket, you should ensure you have access to the email with the voucher to be able to print it again if necessary. Refund for loss is excluded.
The Berlin WelcomeCard is person-bound and non-transferable. A name is noted on the ticket, and when using it (e.g. on public transport or at attractions), photo ID may be required for identity verification. The pass may therefore only be used by the respective holder.
