Frequently asked questions about the Berlin Pass

Answers to frequently asked questions about the use, validity, services and conditions of the Berlin Pass.

The Berlin WelcomeCard (standard pass) includes unlimited travel on public transport in Berlin (depending on the variant for zones AB or ABC) during the selected period of validity as well as up to 50% discount at over 170 sights, museums, tours and other attractions.

Depending on the version of the pass, there are additional benefits: the Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island (72 hours), for example, includes free admission to the five museums on Museum Island. The Berlin WelcomeCard All Inclusive offers free admission to over 30 top attractions (including Museum Island and a hop-on hop-off bus tour), but does not include a public transport ticket. All variants offer the aforementioned discounts with many other partners.

After purchase, you will receive the pass in the form of a digital ticket by e-mail. Print out this voucher (ticket) in A4 format and carry it with you. The pass is activated the first time you use it or from the start date and time stated on the ticket.

The period of validity depends on the variant selected: 48-hour and 72-hour passes are valid for exactly 48 and 72 hours respectively from activation. Multi-day passes (e.g. 4, 5 or 6 days) are valid until midnight on the last day of validity. Example: A 4-day pass that is activated on Wednesday expires on Saturday at 11:59 pm.

With the pass, you can only visit each included attraction once or redeem the respective discount once. Multiple visits to the same attraction with the same Berlin WelcomeCard are not permitted during the validity period.

The Berlin WelcomeCard (standard and Museum Island version) includes a ticket for all public transportation in Berlin. It gives you unlimited use of the subway, S-Bahn, buses, streetcars and regional trains within the area of validity (Zone AB or ABC, depending on the pass).

Yes, the Berlin WelcomeCard functions - if you have chosen a variant with public transport - as a fully-fledged ticket for local public transport. You do not need any additional tickets for buses and trains in Berlin within the covered fare zone. (Please note: The all-inclusive version of the WelcomeCard does not include a local public transport ticket).

The transfer to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is covered if you have the Berlin WelcomeCard for zones ABC, as the airport is located in fare zone C. With a pass for zone AB only, travel to/from the airport is not included. Please note that a Berlin WelcomeCard AB cannot be subsequently extended to include zone C - the ABC variant should be selected directly for airport travel.

The Berlin WelcomeCard does not offer general fast-track access to attractions. Although you can often bypass the queue at the ticket offices because you already have a pass, there is usually no special priority for WelcomeCard holders at the admission or security checks.

Children up to the age of 5 travel free of charge on public transport in Berlin. In addition, up to three children between the ages of 6 and 14 can travel free of charge per adult WelcomeCard holder (for the variants with public transport). There is no reduced WelcomeCard for young people aged 15 and over and adults - they each require their own pass at the regular price.

When you buy it online, you will receive the Berlin WelcomeCard as a digital voucher by e-mail. You bring this printout (DIN A4) with you to Berlin and use it directly as your City Pass. You do not need to collect the pass on site - the printed online ticket is valid as a ticket and discount card. Remember to carry an ID with you, as proof of identity may be required at ticket inspections.

No. Cancellation or refund is not normally possible after purchasing the Berlin WelcomeCard. The tickets are date-specific and cannot be exchanged.

A lost pass cannot usually be replaced. You should therefore keep your Berlin WelcomeCard in a safe place. If you have a digital ticket, you should ensure that you have access to the e-mail with the voucher so that you can print it out again if necessary. A refund in the event of loss is excluded.

The Berlin WelcomeCard is personal and non-transferable. A name is noted on the ticket and a photo ID may be required for identity verification when using the card (e.g. on public transport or at attractions). The pass may therefore only be used by the respective holder.
