Berlin WelcomeCard: prices at a glance
The Berlin WelcomeCard comes in two zones and five durations. AB covers the whole city, ABC also reaches out to BER airport, Potsdam and Oranienburg. The benefits are identical in every variant: a public transport ticket plus discounts at 170+ partners.

Zone ABC is only available for 48 and 72 hours; for 4 to 6 days the card only comes as the AB variant. Every AB duration is also available with a digital audio guide (around €2 extra, in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish).
What's included in the price
- Unlimited travel on bus, tram, U-Bahn and S-Bahn in your chosen zone, for the whole duration. More on the Public transport page.
- Up to 50% off at 170+ partners - sights, museums, city tours, Spree boat trips, theatres and restaurants.
- Up to three children aged 6 to 14 travel free on one card, and children under 6 travel free anyway.
Free entry isn't included: the card is a discount card with a public transport ticket. Free entry comes with the issuer's Museumsinsel and All Inclusive variants, available through the official card website.
Which card is worth it
The zone comes first. If you're flying in and heading from BER into the city, or planning a day in Potsdam, you need ABC - an AB card can't be upgraded along the way. If you arrive by train and stay in the city, AB is the cheaper option and covers everything you need.
Duration comes next. For a weekend, 48 or 72 hours fit well; both run on a rolling basis from validation, so a Friday afternoon counts in full. The longer the card runs, the cheaper it gets per day: the 6-day card works out to around €9.75 a day, the 48-hour card to just over €14.
Does the card pay off?
The honest benchmark is the BVG's 24-hour ticket at €11.20 in zone AB (a single AB ticket costs €4.00). Looking at the transport ticket alone, this is how it compares:
- 48 hours AB: €28.50 versus €22.40 for two 24-hour tickets - about €6 extra.
- 72 hours AB: €39.50 versus €33.60 - about €6 extra.
- 4 days AB: €49.50 versus €44.80 - about €5 extra.
- 5 days AB: €53.50 versus €56.00 - the card is already cheaper.
- 6 days AB: €58.50 versus €67.20 - about €9 saved.
From five days on, the card already pays for itself on transport alone, with the discounts on top. For the shorter durations, you pay around five to six euros extra for the discount package - which you'll usually make back with a single discounted entry or a Spree boat trip. If you barely use buses and trains in Berlin anyway and are only heading to one or two sights, single tickets work out better.
Cancellation: once bought, the card can't be cancelled or moved to a different date. So check the zone, duration and start date before you buy.

What does the Berlin WelcomeCard cost? +
The card starts at 28.50 €. Every price by zone and duration is in the table above; the benefits are the same in every row, only the coverage and duration differ.
Do I need AB or ABC? +
For trips to BER airport and Potsdam you need ABC, since both lie in zone C. If you're staying in the city, AB is enough. A plain AB card can't be upgraded afterwards, so choose the right zone when you buy. Zone ABC is available for 48 and 72 hours; the longer durations only come as an AB card.
Are there child or senior rates? +
No, there's just one rate for everyone aged 6 and up. But every card lets up to three children aged 6 to 14 travel free on public transport, and children under 6 always travel free anyway. So two adults need two cards, while one card is enough for a family with two children.
Which duration is worth it? +
