Berlin WelcomeCard: prices at a glance
The Berlin WelcomeCard comes in two zones and five validity periods. AB covers the whole city area, ABC also reaches BER Airport, Potsdam and Oranienburg. The package of benefits is identical in every variant: a public transport ticket plus discounts with more than 170 partners.

What's included in the price
- Free travel on bus, tram, U-Bahn and S-Bahn in your chosen zone, unlimited for the whole validity period. More on the Public transport page.
- Up to 50% off at more than 170 partners - sights, museums, city tours, Spree boat trips, theatres and restaurants.
- Up to three children aged 6 to 14 travel free on one card, children under 6 travel free anyway.
Free entry isn't included: the card is a discount card with a public transport ticket. Free entry comes with the Museumsinsel and All Inclusive variants of the WelcomeCard, available via the official card website.
Which card is worth it
The zone comes first. If you're arriving by plane and want to get from BER into the city, or you're planning a day in Potsdam, you need ABC - an AB card can't be upgraded once you're there. If you're arriving by train and staying within the city, AB is the cheaper and sufficient choice.
Next comes the validity. For a weekend, 48 or 72 hours fits well; both run on a rolling basis from validation, so a Friday afternoon counts in full. The longer the card runs, the lower the daily cost: the 6-day card works out at around €9.75 a day, the 48-hour card at just over €14.
Does the card pay off?
The honest comparison is the BVG 24-hour ticket at €11.20 in Zone AB (a single AB fare costs €4.00). Comparing the transport ticket alone gives this picture:
- 48 hours AB: €28.50 versus €22.40 for two day tickets - around €6 extra.
- 72 hours AB: €39.50 versus €33.60 - around €6 extra.
- 4 days AB: €49.50 versus €44.80 - around €5 extra.
- 5 days AB: €53.50 versus €56.00 - the card is already cheaper.
- 6 days AB: €58.50 versus €67.20 - around €9 saved.
From five days, the card pays for itself on public transport alone, with the discounts on top. For the shorter validity periods, you pay around €5 to €6 extra for the discount package - you'll usually make that back with a single discounted entry or a Spree cruise. If you barely use buses and trains in Berlin and are only heading to one or two sights, single tickets work out better.

What does the Berlin WelcomeCard cost? +

Do I need AB or ABC? +
For journeys to BER Airport and to Potsdam you need ABC, since both lie in Zone C. If you're staying within the city, AB is enough. A plain AB card can't be upgraded afterwards, so plan the zone before you buy. The AB card runs from 48 hours to 6 days, the ABC card here from 72 hours to 6 days.
Are there child or senior prices? +
No, there's just one fare for everyone aged 6 and over. On top of that, every card covers up to three children aged 6 to 14 free of charge on public transport, and children under 6 travel free anyway. Two adults need two cards; a family with two children needs just one.
